On Monday morning we were lucky enough to have Quantum Theatre production company visit our school. They performed a play called 'Journey to the Bottom of the Garden', which was all about living things. It was both educational and entertaining and covered topics such as classification, food chains and adaptation.
On Tuesday afternoon Oliver, Olivia B, Jack, Marcus, Rory, Luca, Robert, Mark and Harry represented the school in a local year 4 football tournament. In the first round they won 4 games, drew 1 and lost 1 which meant they finished second in their group and got into the semi finals! They faced the winner of the other group, High Beeches, and after a nail biting game the score ended 0-0 resulting in a penalty shoot out. Oliver and Olivia scored our first two and Harry saved both of theirs, meaning we were through to the final! Again this ended 0-0 after extra time and the organisers of the event decided it best to share the trophy. I was so proud of everyone who took part, they displayed fantastic skill and great team work. Thank you to those parents who came to support-I am still nursing a sore throat after all the excitement!
On Wednesday morning the children were busy making water lilies in Art. This task required precision and care and Mrs Hannefy was really impressed with the result:
The children have been working so hard this year and they would like to invite you into their classroom to show you the work they are most proud of. The children have made their own invitations which were sent home on Friday afternoon. The classroom will be open between 3:00 and 3:15 this Thursday 26th May.
One final reminder. I have sent an email to Mrs O' Mahony listing the props we need for the upcoming production. If you have any of the items at home could you please bring them into school on Friday 27th May? Costumes are needed in school on Monday 6th June in order for us to do a dress rehersal that week. Please let me know if you are having difficulties sourcing any of the items and the school may be able to help. Thank you again for your continued support.

Unfortunately the football tournament was cancelled this Tuesday due to bad weather. This has been rescheduled for this coming Tuesday. Could those children involved please bring in their permission slips by Monday.
We have been learning about the conversion of Saul to Paul this week in RE. The children retold the story in their own words and performed some wonderful role plays reenacting the events. Next week we will be looking at Islam.
In Art this half term the children have been practicing their sketching skills. They will go on to paint landscape pictures, focusing on mixing paints to make different shades of colours.
Rehearsals for the production in June are well underway. They children have really impressed me with their ability to memorise their lines and the song lyrics. This week I have sent a list of the costume required for each character. Information regarding ticket sales will also be sent out shortly.
